The wine tavern Buschenschank Schandl is located in the picturesque ambience of a town house dating back to the 18th century and run by Barbara Schandl, strongly supported by her mother, Ursula. The old centre of Rust is protected as a historic monument.
The building has been affectionately restored, featuring the original cross vaults and an open-air area with a cosy wine arbour, which provides cool shade in summer. The love for revitalisation, tradition and regionality is reflected in the choice of wines and food. Our wine tavern tempts our guests with delicacies from the Pannonian cuisine and offers a cosy atmosphere with its stylish ambience and excellent service.
Our food is freshly prepared and made of regional and seasonal products. In the mild Pannonian climate, fruit, vegetables and herbs grow better than anywhere else in Austria. Our fish comes from the lake, our wine from the family vineyards. Our culinary selection includes home-made spreads and roasts, which are freshly prepared every day, marinated seasonal veggies as well as classics of the Viennese and Hungarian cuisines.
In addition, we offer wine lovers white, red and sweet wines as well as sparkling wine specialties produced in the vineyards owned by the family since 1741. Take your time to immerse yourself in an atmosphere of peace and calm, which may evolve as you taste and select our delicacies. Or simply enjoy the relaxed atmosphere in the shady arbour on sizzling summer days. Feel the life, enjoy a glass of good wine and relish the moment to the full.
